Tom Hayman has an unmatched background in corporate and real estate negotiations. After graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 1971 (B.S. degree in Business) Tom served 5 years in the United States Marine Corps as a weapons officer in F-4 Phantom tactical jets. During these 5 years, Tom also earned a M.S. degree from the University of Southern California (M.S. in Management Systems).
In September 1976 Tom joined the Procter & Gamble Company (#1 consumer products company in the world) in Cincinnati, Ohio. For the next 25 years, Tom held positions of increasing responsibility in the Global Purchases and Supply Chain Management Organizations. Tom was trained as a professional negotiator by the Karrass Institute, Harvard University, the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and Oxford University in Oxford, England. While at Procter & Gamble, Tom wrote and taught advanced negotiation and cultural negotiation training courses for the Global Purchases Organization. Tom also lived in Japan for 4 years, traveling the Far East extensively and learning key aspects of cultural negotiations.
After retiring from Procter & Gamble, Tom joined the real estate industry in 2003. With encouragement from other real estate professionals, Tom wrote his first real estate negotiation training course in 2004. After several years of focused effort, Tom founded Negotiation Expertise, LLC in 2006 to serve the real estate industry, and launched the Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE) designation course in late 2006. In the first year over 1,000 agents earned the CNE designation in 12 different states. During 2008, over 1500 agents earned the CNE designation, bringing the total to over 3,000 agents in just 2 years. The CNE designation training course was ranked in the Top 5 New training courses in the 2008 Swanepoel Trends Report. Additional CNE instructors have been added to expand across the United States, and the online version of the CNE course is now available exclusively from RealtyU. |
